"Perfect place for a decent stay..."
Travelled to Tallinn by my own for the first time. This was because my family always seems to interfer with my interests when we are there together... We are frequent visitors to this lovely city, my mother is born in Estonia. Lucky me, I found this lovely hotel on the net. Cheap, Nice and situated perfectly a short stroll from the Old Town ( 3-4 min ). I can strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Tallinn, and wants a good hotel for little money.

"Excellent Hotel in Great Location"
Stayed 23-25 Oct 2005.My wife and I arrived early in the afternoon but this was no problem for the English speaking staff who told us that as our room was not yet cleaned we could have the larger family room at no extra cost. The hotel is located on the edge of the old town (5-min walk), opposite bus, tram and rail stops - ideal! The transfer from the airport was by the No 2 bus outside the airport arrivals - only cost 10 kr each! (Bought tickets at kiosk in airport). After 6 stops we changed to a tram for 7 stops also 10 kr each - the stop is acoss the road from the hotel. Total journey around 30 minutes. The hotel is basic but clean and warm. Our room had two double beds, ensuite shower room/toilet/sink with plenty of towels, wardrobe and coat hooks, cable TV. Large choice at self-serve breakfast, cereals, porridge, ham, cheese, eggs and drinks - lovely - WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Tallinn is a beautiful city.

"Great Location, Great Service"
I stayed at this hotel at the end November 2005. It is a great location - opposite the railway station and bus station, trams stop just outside, there is an open-air market just opposite and a covered market at the railway station. It is just a few minutes walk from the walls of the old town.
The room was really clean - all Scandanavian pine. The bed was comfortable and the private bathroom really neat. The rates include a buffet breakfast in the restuarant.
I ate dinner in the restaurant a couple of times, and though the menu is a little limited, the food and service were great. I found the reception staff really helpful and all spoke good English.
One advice I would give to would be visitors - go the kiosk near the railway station and buy a book of bus/tram tickets and then just go and explore outside the old town. I made a trip to Pirita Monastery, which is an amazing site, and also went to one of the housing developments. I also rode around the city walls on a tram. You get a really good insight into how people live this way.
I intend going back there in 2006 and see places it was too cold to see on my last trip.

skane
from the Old Town, with a view of Toompea and conveniently close to the tram, the Hotel Skane was in an ideal location. They gave us a huge room ( and a tiny single for our daughter) on the first floor. With very pleasant and welcoming staff, efficient heating and effective double glazing that helped keep the place both warm and quiet, a perfectly adequate breakfast, plenty of hot water, spotlessly clean (though with rather iffy drains - keeping the bathroom door shut in our room was a necessity) all at a most reasonable rate, we were well satisfied with our stay here. |
